The Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH) at the Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC), University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI) invites applications for primary care veterinarians to work within the AVC-VTH small animal primary care urgent and emergency service. This is an exciting time for the service, as the AVC is also recruiting two full-time tenure track faculty positions in small animal emergency and critical care, whose scope of work will include working with and playing a foundational role in supporting and leading the primary emergency service.

Operating from 8am-10pm, Monday-Sunday, the primary urgent and emergency service provides patient triage and emergency care coverage for clients and in support of veterinary clinics across Prince Edward Island. This service is part of the clinical teaching program in the VTH and emergency clinicians will provide clinical teaching to fourth year DVM students in
urgent care and emergency medicine.

We are seeking primary care veterinarians to join the team of Emergency Service clinicians to fill up to 2.5 FTE, full-time or part-time term positions until April 30, 2025, with the possibility of extension. Applicants interested in part-time positions are encouraged to state their requested FTE in their application.

Commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Hours:
Hours will include days, swing, late and weekend shifts in a schedule averaging approximately 40 hours per week (per 1.0 FTE). Additional hours worked are compensated for as per the FA2 collective agreement.

This appointment will be made at the Clinical Veterinary Professional (UPEIFA, BU2) level and is subject to final budgetary approval. This appointment is eligible for market differential (prorated to time and term), subject to final approval. Eligibility of Clinical Veterinary Professionals for benefits will be in accordance with the FA2 collective agreement.
