The Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC) at the University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI) seeks to fill the position of Director of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH). This is a senior management position in the College and as such reports directly to the Dean.
The AVC is a fully accredited veterinary school by the Canadian and American Veterinary Medical Associations (CVMA/AVMA) and delivers DVM, MVSc, MSc and PhD programs. The college currently includes approximately 85 full-time faculty, ~250 dedicated staff (including full- and part-time), ~60 graduate students, and ~ 280 students.
The VTH at AVC includes multi-disciplinary Large and Small Animal Hospitals, as well as food animal and equine ambulatory services. The VTH is an important local and regional service provider to veterinarians and the public. Operating as both a primary care and referral veterinary practice, the VTH provides a key clinical training environment for veterinary students, interns, and residents, all mentored by faculty and supported by experienced staff. In addition, the VTH Director is directly supported by an operations manager, two assistant managers, one VTH systems manager, and one client services manager, overseeing a cadre of dedicated staff members.

Working with managers of the VTH Administration, the Hospital Director has primary responsibility for leadership on all VTH matters related to finance and budgets, reporting, project management, human resource management, clinical care and governance, hospital operations, communications and workplace health and safety.
