The Department of Health Management at the Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC), University of Prince Edward Island, invites applications for a full-time, 3-year term faculty position in Ruminant Health Management. The appointment will be made at the Assistant Professor level, depending on qualifications and experience.

Responsibilities and Duties:
The Farm Service caseload in ruminants consists of dairy (~80%), beef (~15%) and sheep and goats (~5%). The successful applicant will share teaching, clinical and emergency duties with four other Farm Service faculty members. To be successful, the applicant must be an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher and have a strong interest in clinical service and teaching. In addition to the provision of clinical service to cattle, sheep and goat farms, duties will include teaching ruminant health management in clinical, laboratory and didactic settings in the DVM program, and teach an immunology course in the DVM program. The successful candidate will also be expected to conduct applied research in ruminant health management and collaborate with other AVC faculty in the field of ruminant health research.
The successful applicant will join an established dairy health management team with active teaching, research and service. For research, they will have access to CL2 laboratories through the successful Maritime Dairy Laboratory Service (MDLS), a key component of the AVC dairy research program – Maritime Quality Milk (MQM).
The salary range is commensurate with credentials and experience. Full-time, term faculty members receive a comprehensive fringe benefit package, with benefit details provided at time of offer in accordance with the collective agreement. This appointment is subject to budgetary approval.
