Registered Veterinary Technician

We are currently looking for a full-time or part-time Registered Veterinary Technician to join our busy small animal practice. The Fairvale Animal Hospital has been serving the clients of Rothesay and surrounding area for over 20 years. We offer a fully-equipped facility with a surgical suite, digital radiography, digital dental radiography, therapeutic laser, and in-house laboratory. We also offer a fully equipped rehabilitation centre and have a certified acupuncturist on staff.

We have a team of experienced veterinarians and offer cooperative case management, providing medical, surgical, dental, and emergency services. Our ideal candidate would have 2-3 years previous experience; new graduates are also encouraged to apply. Duties will include, but are not limited to: assisting the Veterinarian in surgery, anesthetic monitoring, radiology, laboratory work, and dentistry. Our candidate will also be responsible for assisting with restraining animals, medication dispensing, clinic cleanliness, equipment maintenance, inventory control, and client education. Our employees are also cross-trained and will be required to support receptionist and kennel attendants as required. Our candidate must be a team player who is friendly, patient, and enthusiastic with clients and their pets. Strong computer skills are essential, experience with Avimark would be considered an asset. It is essential that they possess exceptional communication and interpersonal skills; have the ability to multitask; and have a high attention to detail. The shift schedule would include days, evenings and weekends; we also provide on-call services, sharing call with a group of five veterinary hospitals.
